Tampa gets a Facelift! “Solar Intersection Project”
City of Tampa partnered with Solar Earth to replace an incumbent battery back-up combined with portable diesel generators.
Finding new means of renewable energy is an ongoing goal in the City of Tampa, especially when it provides resilience during hurricane season. The Resilient Solar Sidewalk that Solar Earth installed in September 2020, provides continuous power to the traffic lights independent of the local grid. The system is resilient against extreme wind and flooding. The city of Tampa has one less diesel generator that needs to be stored and maintained. This is a “dual-use” solar project, meaning it won’t take up space for just one purpose. These solar PIPV’S are installed to promote clean energy and creating a “walkable” sidewalk, this is the first project of its kind in the City of Tampa, and we are thrilled to be a part of it.
