Frequently Asked Questions

The panels are rated for 15 years under pedestrian loads and 10 years under vehicle loads. With heavy vehicle traffic the panels might need a traction resurface after 5 years.

5,000 kg (11,023 lbs) is the rated load across a 570mm x 570mm panel.

20 C to 90 C (-4 F to 194 F).

Each panel weighs 3.3 kgs (7.27 lbs). The square panels are 570 mm +/- 2 mm per side and 6 mm +/- 0.3 mm thick.

panel tech data

This varies a bit with the nature of the project. Solar Earth’s panels are designed to retrofit existing hardscapes or be installed as a paving slab on cement (partner supplied) or polymer (Solar Earth supplied) pavers. Plus, solar panels are one component of a complete solution. There is the electrical balance of the system that needs to be considered. There are a variety of factors that go into the total installation cost, please contact us to work through your project’s specifications.

This varies with the nature of the installation and location but a typical payback on saved electricity costs is between 5 and 10 years.

The power capacity of a panel can is 42W. The panel’s electrical production is heavily dependent on its location. For example, one panel in California produces 55kwH/year.

Almost every type of flat surface can be transformed into a solar panel system. Bike paths, sidewalks, trails, parking lots, rooftops, docks, driveways, and ramps are just a few examples of infrastructure that our panels can enhance. Paving integrated PV technology is not yet designed to withstand heavy traffic at high speeds.

A Solar Earth panel gets no hotter than normal tarmac or a concrete sidewalk.
In fact, it is often slightly cooler because light is being converted into energy.

Solar Earth is designed to be water and flood resistant. Even after being submerged for days, they will keep working when the water level subsides.
